Construction:

The construction of this project took place over the period of winter quarter. I was able to acquire old used frames and modified according to plans. The final frame was welded into place by hand. The frame was measured, cut, and precision mitered to the appropriate dimensions. Frame size is 36 inches. The assembled frame was placed into jigs and checked for proper alignment. I was hoping that adjustments were possible while the frame was still hot and malleable, but that was not the case. The excess welded metal was cleaned off by an angle grinder and sand paper until smooth. The frame was painted, not only to create a more finished appearance, but also to protect the frame. The frame is first primed with an undercoat and then painted by hand with the help of spray.
